Gentle Whisper – The Basket

Cleaning out my car I discovered I needed a box to hold my books, a nice box where I could stand them up on end, in a row. The box I had was large and they would move around and I didn’t want them getting damaged in the trunk. So I was on a mission to find the perfect box. I looked everywhere, but no box was to be found, so I started looking for a plastic container and once again none was found. I was getting discouraged but was not willing to give up. As I was looking around I glanced at one of my Longaberger baskets. I have lots of them, I have a friend who sells them. They are sturdy and strong and it would look so cute with my books in a basket, not only cute but perfect. It goes along with the title of my book. Believe it or not, I couldn’t find one Longaberger basket that would hold the books like I wanted. My last resort before heading to a store was going in our attic to see if there was any container that would fit my books.

I love Gentle Whispers, because when they come I envision God looking down smiling, just like a parent waiting to see the excitement of a child opening a gift.  When we finally see or hear the Gentle Whisper, He walks away thrilled saying, “She knew it was from Me!”

There it was, the first thing I saw, and I knew I didn’t have to look any farther. My heart took a leap and knew I had a gift from God. It was my mothers, I liked it, but I could never find the perfect place for it, and well, it just wasn’t up to the Longaberger quality. But I just couldn’t get myself to put it in a garage sale or Goodwill.  I put a book in the basket and it fit, it even had a lid to protect the books. It was perfect so perfect that, I started to tear up, basking in the moment. That’s what Gentle Whispers do. They fill your heart and you become more in love with the One who gave it.
